USB 4G Failover -Pantech UML 290

Pantech UML290:

These instructions are for users who purchased their own Pantech UML 290. If you purchased the @Home Product, please follow the instructions here.

When you have your 4G failover device, simply plug it into any USB port. You can use a USB cable to extend the length or place the antenna in a better position.
  1. Before installing the card and enabling failover on the unit

  2. Make sure the unit is upgraded to the latest firmware release

  3. Click here to see a guide on updating the 4G device: http://www.vzam.net/uploadedFiles/UML290%20VPN%20Connection%20Issues%20-%20Read%20Me.pdf

  4. When the second step is complete, install the  failover device to the USB port.

  5. Go to the site (SimpleWAN unit) through edit and “enable” Failover

  6. Go to the user dashboard in the “interface” menu and select 4G from the WAN2 selection

  7. Unit should auto-calibrate the secondary connection. When complete this can be confirmed under the speedtest field. Ex: WAN2 upload: 4.5Mbps download: 55Mbps.

*If you are having connectivity issues with the UML290, it is possible you need to change the IP mode of the device. This can be done by connecting the 4G device to a laptop, open the Verizon wireless manager panel. Once there you will need to do the following. Press Cntrl-D this will bring up a password text box, enter the password diagvzw. This will bring up another window of configuration settings. Set them as you see below.
